PICTURESQUE WEDDING ON SHUSWAP LAKE

Ava & Silas got married at the top of Shuswap Lake in Seymour Arm - which in my opinion is the most beautiful place in the world. I've known Ava's family since we were kids so this was a very special wedding for me to capture and some of my favorite photos I've ever taken.
2 years ago I got married in Seymour Arm myself! Ava had attended and loved our photo locations so we did the same for her! It felt like I was getting to re-live my own wedding but as the photographer this time.
GETTING READY
Ava got ready with her bridesmaids at their family cabin on a sunny August morning. I took her dress and some details outside on the front porch to take some photos as the girls touched up their hair and makeup in front of the mirrors inside. Silas and his groomsmen were getting ready 5 minutes away at another family friend's cabin!

CEREMONY
The ceremony took place at a beautiful property at the very top of the Shuswap Lake. Ava and Silas got married under an arch that Silas made himself, decorated with beautiful florals from @morning_glory_farm_florist filled with sunflowers, dahlias and zinnias. They had a live flute and guitar playing as they walked down the isle, two worship songs led by the bridesmaids, and a candle lighting unity ceremony.

FAMILY PHOTOS
Directly after the ceremony we took all their family photos with the lake as our backdrop. Family photos right after the ceremony is a great timeline choice becuase everyone is all in one place! We spent about 30 minutes on family photos and then took a few wedding party and couple photos at this location as well.

SEYMOUR FALLS WEDDING PARTY PHOTOS
After a quick stop at the cabin for lunch, the wedding party crew and I headed out to Seymour falls where we took some wedding party and couple photos! This is the greenest forest EVER with beautiful ferns and moss. There's a quick 10 minute walk to get to the stunning blue river and a cool rock where I took Silas and Ava's bridal portraits. We let the rest of the wedding party head back to the reception as we spent some time getting some beautiful images of the two of them.

RECEPTION
The reception took place back at Ava's family cabin. Her family had spent almost the whole year prepping the lot beside theirs to host all of their guests RVs so they could stay nearby! There was a little "memory lane" guests could walk through to connect the two properties. 3 big tents took up the empty grass area, one of them covering the dance floor made out of their very own milled wood! There was a super cute mug wall as favours for guests, as well as a photobooth station and a bar and dessert stand also hand made by Silas.
After dinner and speeches, the MCs had some hilarious games planned. One where each family had to see who could hammer a nail into a log the fastest! Everyone was belly laughing, the kids were cheering, it was the funniest thing I've seen at a reception so far.
The night ended with everyone dancing together under the lit tents and stars above.
