SUMMER CAMP WEDDING IN THE KOOTENAYS
THE NIGHT BEFORE
My first impression of this summer camp did not disappoint! Kevin & Nicole had hired me to shoot a couple hours at their rehearsal dinner, and after driving 5 hours from Vernon to Canal Flats, I arrived just after the sun had set on Blue Lake.
There were little cabins for guests to stay in, a massive dining hall, canoes for guests to use, and a lodge looked over the water, surround by golden and red fall foliage. While their family was preparing the rehearsal dinner, Nicole, Kevin and I snuck out right away on a canoe to grab some shots!
After the dinner, family and friends gathered around the campfire to connect and chat underneath the BRIGHTEST Milky Way!
GETTING READY
Waking up to a beautiful blue sky and mist gliding over the lake was so peaceful. Guests went for canoe rides, cold plunges, and had breakfast.

Nicole had planned for lots of time to relax, get ready, and take bridal photos before the ceremony at 4:00pm. Nicole's makeup was done by a friend, her hair was done by her aunt, and her florals were grown by her mother and arranged by her grandmother. It was a whole family affair!
BRIDAL PHOTOS
Because we had so much time before the ceremony, the bridal photos were very relaxed and we had some fun! We walked around to different locations around the lake looking for the best fall colours and lighting.

In the forest, Nicole and Kevin shared their personal vows. It was a quiet, intimate moment and as Nicole stated, "that was the most cathartic experience of my life".
CEREMONY
Nicole and Kevin's ceremony was short and sweet. It was officiated by Kevin's father, who had traveled with Kevin's family all the way from Ghana, Africa. The aisle was lined with thrifted red rugs and the hexagonal arch was made by Nicole's father.

Rose petals were used as colourful confetti as the newlyweds walked back down. I love an aisle dip-kiss!
